From Tucson, Arizona to the 7s World Series and the ARC Championship Ryan Matyas has been on a tear, cutting through defenses on the rugby pitch. With the ability to play center, fullback and wing, Matyas is a defenders nightmare and a coaches dream. He took time out from his training with the Eagles to share a little bit about himself with Human Weapon.

Favorite post-work-out meal: Eggs, avocado, rice, spinach, hot sauce.

What you do when you’re not training: Hanging with family and friends, sleeping, coaching youth rugby.

Proudest accomplishment: Playing against South Africa in the Hong Kong 7's.

Toughest moment and how you persevered through it: Not being selected for the 2013 Colligate All Americans 15's NZ tour. Went back home trained hard for a few months and got an opportunity to play for All Americans 7's in the Serevi RugbyTown sevens. Won the Cup with the All Americans and got offered a USA 7's contract after that.

What does being a Human Weapon mean to you: I think the tenets say it all, Strength, Discipline, Sacrifice, Respect. These are all things I truly believe in when it comes to achieving what you want in life and especially in Rugby. And to be chosen as a HW-Athlete is an honor.

Advice to others on their warrior’s journey: There is no substitute for hard work.
